An interesting thing happened yesterday.
Last week, I got together with the Galley Table crew and we recorded an episode of the Galley Table talking about PayPal’s latest shenanigans in trying to censor online content by threatening to withdraw their services to online booksellers like Smashwords. PayPal’s take on things was that a) they didn’t want their service to be associated with morally questionable content, and b) they were being pressured into it by the credit card companies that they do business with. We called bullshit. The products that PayPal wanted to censor (and worse!) are sold every day in brick and mortar stores using those credit cards. Nobody bats an eye. For that matter, much worse things are sold on e-Bay, PayPal’s parent company, and paid for via PayPal. If PayPal wants to censor content, why not start with e-Bay?
So last week we recorded, and Episode 61 of Galley Table went live yesterday. And do you know what happened?

About ten days ago, I posted about being invited to write in another author’s universe. At the time, I was ecstatic just for being offered the chance to contribute to another author’s universe. Of course, the easy part is getting the invitation. Then you have to come up with an actual idea for the story, get it approved, and then write the sucker.

This week has gotten me off track with my planned production. I started off well with a Wayback Machine post, and a new review up on the Nifty Tech Blog, but then Wednesday and Thursday I was so exhausted I just couldn’t get anything done. I just slept. Today wasn’t exactly brilliant either. I didn’t get any writing done, but I did get out the mic and catch up on some overdue voice work.

Yesterday was a day for great news to come my way. Not all of the good news happened yesterday, but it was the day that word reached me on a number of things. If any of this is news to you, I’m happy to be the bearer of glad tidings. [click to continue…]

Well, it is official. I will be returning to Balticon as a participant again this year. I am looking forward to being a part of the program, as Balticon has always been an excellent experience for me. Even last year when I got sick at the con. The schedule is still being worked out by the con organizers, but there area few things that I know will be on my schedule for this year. [click to continue…]

The whole point of having this blog was so I could keep you, the reader updated on the status of my latests projects. And, because I knew that you were looking for updates, I’d update my projects, and then post status. Which would bring you, the reader, back around to read.
And a whole vicious cycle ensues.
Except I haven’t been doing too well on all of that lately…

I have managed to survive last week’s surgery to correct my Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. The surgeon went in and removed an inch and a half to two inch strip off of one of my ribs so that my vein has more room and the blood flows freely from my extremities back to my heart. They tell me that the procedure worked well, although I developed a hematoma and they went back in to drain it. I know that I am still here, and while I am rather swollen, I’m not in a lot of pain.

I recently got a hold of the cover art for my next short story release. At first I thought I’d hold onto it until the actual release, but now I’m thinking that I’d like to share it with folks. The story is my short story Welcome to Paradox, which I wrote for the Every Photo Tells… podcast and which first aired back in October of 2010. I’ve been polishing up the text a bit and hope to have the e-book ready to go in the next few months, but before I can do that, I still need to wrap up the writing for Perils. But until the official release, here is a quick peek at the great cover created for me by Starla Hutchton.

I know I said that we would be firing up the Wayback Machine again today, but we seem to be encountering some problems. We’ll keep working at it here at Swimming Cat Studios and see if we can get it working for this Friday’s scheduled jaunt into the past. Anyone happen to have a spare flux capacitor?
