Time for the next installment of the Balticon 46 wrap up. If you’ve been with us since the beginning of the Balticon 46 Wrap-up, you’ll remember the video we started out with, where I was getting ready for a panel. Well, this is that panel: Just Dandy: The Importance of Accessories in Steampunk. This was a very different panel for me, as it was a part of the Costuming panel at Balticon. How did I get on a costuming Panel? Shooting my mouth off on Twitter. Pavlina, last year’s head of the Costuming track, was asking for ideas for ideas for panels. I tweeted the title for this panel, and Pavlina jumped on it. Sensing that I had gotten myself in over my head, I demurred that I would only do it if Jared Axelrod, that modern epitome of Dandism, was part of the panel. Jared instantly replied, “I’m there.”
I thought it was going to be just Jared and I giving a talk on the subject, but it turned into a panel discussion, for which I was grateful. The Panel consisted of Elektra Hammond, Janine K. Spendlove, Jared Axelrod, Rebecca K. Davis, and myself. The panel and the audience were both beautifully attired. I know someone took video, but I don’t have access to it. However, Nuchtchas was kind enough to allow me to post some pictures that she took during the panel.

I’ve gotten very far behind in a lot of projects, among them, this recap from Balticon 46. But what better way to kick off the new year than to move forward with the Wrap-up? So, here is Part 3, a Panel from Friday Night entitled A Touch of Slash – Rule 34 and the Podiosphere. This is from the New Media Track on Friday night at 10 PM. Once more, I stand victorious, having weathered the storms of another year. A lot has been thrown my way in the past year, but I’m still in the fight. While my weight loss has become more of a struggle in the past year, my health has gotten better. It still warms my heart when people tell me that I seem to be smaller every time they see me, even if I know it isn’t strictly true. While some things haven’t exactly taken off for me, I’ve still managed to move forward and gain a better understanding of the writing world that I’m trying to break into.
My plans have changed for the coming year, but I believe those changes will make me more successful in the future. [click to continue…]

OK, I’m back with Part 2 of the Balticon 46 Wrap-up, and for some reason it is not June anymore. How did that happen?
Well, things are a few weeks late, but now I’ve worked out enough to get them moving forward. So here we have the first audio from Balticon 46 panels. This audio is from a Reader’s Track panel on Friday night at 5 PM. The Panel was called Steam Powered: The Rage of the New Victorians. On the panel were Phillippa Ballantine, Tee Morris, and myself. Tee ended up subbing for our missing moderator, and even let Pip and me talk from time to time.

This week has been such a waste. I have gotten next to nothing done.
I’ve got a bunch of audio from Balticon that I’ve been wanting to put into the feed, and I’ve had next to no time to get it ready. The first panel, Steam Powered, with Phillipa Ballantine and Tee Morris, is almost ready, but I haven’t been able to work with it at all this week. I wanted to release it on Tuesday of LAST week. Obviously that didn’t happen.

Balticon 46 was a BLAST! I had a very good time, saw a lot of old friends, made some new ones, and managed to survive all my panels! In addition to a lot of good memories, I came home with a lot of recorded audio. It is going to take me a while to sift through everything, so I’m going to be releasing it in pieces.
In fact, I’m going to be starting a new feed for content coming out of Balticon. This post is going to be the first part of that feed. Oh, wait, I think that is supposed to be “What I’m doing at Balticon 46!”
No, on second thought, I think I may have gotten it right the first time.
Bit by bit, my schedule for Balticon 46 has come together, and now I am finally ready to share it in all of its titanic glory! And this year really is titanic. Somehow, when I said that I was willing to do up to 3 panels a day, it got interpreted as 3 panels for each day. Yes, I’m doing twelve panels this year! Plus a reading! The worst part? When I looked over the panels to see what I could back out of… I couldn’t find anything. All of my panels are either things I’d already agreed to do, cool subjects, or a chance to branch out into new areas and break out of the “comfort zone”. So, if you want to see where I’ll be at this year’s Balticon, just click the link and get ready to make some notes. There’s a LOT!
