Master Feed

If you’re also a listener to The Shrinking Man Project, you’ll know that I have one final surgical procedure coming up in the beginning of February. If you’ve been following my Twitter feed, you’ll know that this procedure is today. So, while I’m off getting operated on, and recuperating, I thought I’d bring you another treat from the Wayback Machine. Today’s offering comes from March 26, 2011, and it is another Galley Table episode. In this one, we’re talking about strategies for e-book pricing. Our guest for this show is the lovely and talented Veronica Giguerre.  As ever, notes, and the episode after the jump. [click to continue…]

For Monday of this week, we’re going to fire up the Wayback Machine again and point it back to March 25th of 2011 and another episode of The Shrinking Man Project! This episode marked a return to Philosophy after a long hiatus. It also marked a return to me doing episodes on the fly without writing a script out ahead of time, so the episode is a bit on the long side, and does kind of ramble a bit.

This episode has a particularly useful bit of Philosophy, talking about how we create conditioned responses and find ourselves reacting instead of reasoning, and what we can do to regain control and keep from being hijacked. If you can gain some control over that part of your mind that is commonly called the “lizard brain”, you gain much more control of your life and how you present yourself. It is a simple idea, but it can help improve your life in untold ways.

Today the Wayback Machine is set for March 15th, 2011 and another episode of The Shrinking Man Project. This is another check in episode, and it features me figuring out how to manage my life after dealing with my wife’s illness and my work moving to a new site farther away from my home. This episode might be particularly helpful for folks wanting to deal with the surprises that life throws at you.

This time we’ve set the Wayback Machine to March 14th, 2011, when the Galley Table crew got together for episode twenty-six and a talk about writers groups, genre fiction, and entertaining the audience. We discuss what you can expect from writing groups, and how to get the most out of your writing group experience.

With a new year comes a new promo. So it is only fair to let the Wayback Machine bring us last year’s promo one last time. Back on March 12th of 2011, I released this prompt that I put together with the help of my friend Laura Nicole from the Scrivener’s Circle. Now, over 10 months later, I’m still discovering new podcasts that used this promo. So here it is, one last time before I release a new promo.

Enjoy!

The Wayback Machine is warmed up again, and ready to take us back to March 9th of 2011. After being put through the wringer at the hospital the week prior, I’m now ready to start over and get back on track. The problem is, things have changed now with my office moving to a new site, and I can’t just slide back into the old routine. So it is time to figure things out all over again.

Despite a couple months of disuse, I’ve managed to get the Wayback Machine fired up here, and we’ve set the verniers to March 4th, 2011 for another episode of The Galley Table! Specifically, we’re talking about Galley Table number twenty-five, where we discuss the joys and pitfalls of organizing audio dramas and other large projects over long distances with guest Ayoub Khote. We also end up talking about some of our favorite projects we’ve listened to over the past year.

Once more into the breach, dear friends! It was the best of times, and then things went to hell in a hand basket. Today’s trip into the past lands us on March 2nd, 2011, and the recounting of one of the toughest weeks of my life. I started off the week with everything going just the way I wanted it… and then it all fell apart due to my wife getting sick and going to the hospital. I think Murphy was working triple overtime this week.

We started with my wife being sick, and being in the hospital with her made me sick, too. Ugh.

Today we are heading back to February 26th, 2011 for another Galley Table episode. The guest today is Jonathan Jacobs of Nevermet Press. We talk about RPGs, world building, and when enough is enough and you just need to get on with the story. And we curse Skype. A lot. A whole lot. Oh, and we invade Zach Ricks‘ brain.

Happy Monday, folks! It is happy for us because the Wayback Machine is still ticking over. It’s all warmed up this morning and for once, we’re not going to visit Galley Table for a change! We’ve finally caught up to where I left off with the Master Feed back in February. Today’s destination is February 21st, 2011 and Episode 10 of The Shrinking Man Project. This episode dealt with the changes I was going through with the impending move of my office to a new location, literally a different state, and how I was expecting it to alter my life. Unlike the Galley Table episodes, this one is just a short thirteen minutes long. This episode also announces my first paid writing sale to Issue 4 of Flying Island Press’s magazine Flagship. For those who are not familiar with Flagship, it is an e-published magazine with short stories and articles on the craft of writing in every issue. The magazine is available in both print and audio format and puts out new issues every two to three months. Anywho, on with the episode!
