And, in what seems like a blink of an eye, another week is gone.
But it has been productive. Northern Mist went through editing in what seems like a blink of an eye. I must admit that the editing process was vaguely disappointing. I was expecting more feedback. For once I’m experiencing the desire to continue hammering at a story to polish it further. It has been a new experience. That nagging feeling that says, “I can do better.”
But production schedules will not wait for me. So I have to move forward. [click to continue…]

Starting the week of right this week with another trip via the Wayback Machine! Today we’re visiting April 13, 2011 and a return of Philosophy to The Shrinking Man Project. This episode discusses the way most people set unrealistic deadlines for themselves. This sabotages your progress, and can lead to permanent damage. Even if you heard this one the first time around, you’ll probably want to give it another listen.
This episode also marks the beginning of my blood clot issues. Hasn’t been diagnosed yet, but I do talk about the issues I encountered because of the clot.
Enjoy the show.

Some trouble getting the Wayback Machine working this week, but I finally got it to kick over. Today’s trip into the past takes us to April 7th, 2011 and an episode of The Shrinking Man Project. This episode’s featured promo is Katarina Maimer’s Wiener Blut. This episode comes from the beginning of the plateau that I spent most of last year struggling with. This is also the first episode where my wife has taken over the editing duties from me.
Enjoy the show.

For Monday of this week, we’re going to fire up the Wayback Machine again and point it back to March 25th of 2011 and another episode of The Shrinking Man Project! This episode marked a return to Philosophy after a long hiatus. It also marked a return to me doing episodes on the fly without writing a script out ahead of time, so the episode is a bit on the long side, and does kind of ramble a bit.
This episode has a particularly useful bit of Philosophy, talking about how we create conditioned responses and find ourselves reacting instead of reasoning, and what we can do to regain control and keep from being hijacked. If you can gain some control over that part of your mind that is commonly called the “lizard brain”, you gain much more control of your life and how you present yourself. It is a simple idea, but it can help improve your life in untold ways.

For those with no interest in the Super Bowl, such as myself, I thought I’d provide a little update on how things have been going in the studios lately. As usual, things have been busy. But in comparison to recent weeks, I feel as if I’ve gotten a lot more accomplished in the past week than I have in the weeks that preceded it.

Today the Wayback Machine is set for March 15th, 2011 and another episode of The Shrinking Man Project. This is another check in episode, and it features me figuring out how to manage my life after dealing with my wife’s illness and my work moving to a new site farther away from my home. This episode might be particularly helpful for folks wanting to deal with the surprises that life throws at you.

Well, it is official. I will be returning to Balticon as a participant again this year. I am looking forward to being a part of the program, as Balticon has always been an excellent experience for me. Even last year when I got sick at the con. The schedule is still being worked out by the con organizers, but there area few things that I know will be on my schedule for this year. [click to continue…]

With a new year comes a new promo. So it is only fair to let the Wayback Machine bring us last year’s promo one last time. Back on March 12th of 2011, I released this prompt that I put together with the help of my friend Laura Nicole from the Scrivener’s Circle. Now, over 10 months later, I’m still discovering new podcasts that used this promo. So here it is, one last time before I release a new promo.
Enjoy!

The Wayback Machine is warmed up again, and ready to take us back to March 9th of 2011. After being put through the wringer at the hospital the week prior, I’m now ready to start over and get back on track. The problem is, things have changed now with my office moving to a new site, and I can’t just slide back into the old routine. So it is time to figure things out all over again.
