Some people fear birthdays. They hide them. They deny them.
Not me.
For me, a birthday is a victory celebration! Another year to stride upon this Earth, win battles, and fight off death for another day. In the end to plunge my banner into the heart of another year and cry to the heavens that this year will not defeat me! I have taken on all that it had to dish out and I remain standing! Victorious!
But not everyone sees it like that.

To try to make things a little easier for folks to find my various projects, I’ve set up a new splash page for DocColeman.com. This new page links to each of the major projects that I have going, providing a simple launch point for anyone looking into my work. Please take a look at the page and let me know what you think of it.
Right now, it is just a basic page, but I may end up moving some things over to that site, such as some of the galleries and the Lee of the Scale blog from scaleslea.net. It will depend on what happens with the host for that site.

After last week’s long episode, we have a very short one this week. Just a basic check in. This hasn’t been a very eventful week, given that I’ve been nursing a bad back for several days. I am feeling better now, and my wife and I celebrated our Valentine’s Day a little early.
This week’s Promo is for Veronica Giguere’s short story The Keepers.
Enjoy the show. See you next week!

This year I have been fortunate enough to be invited as a panelist to Balticon 45. This is my first time being a panelist at a con, and I’m really looking forward to it. I also want to make sure I do my fair share of making the con an entertaining and enlightening experience for everyone (so they’ll invite me back…). I’ve submitted a number of ideas for Panels that I might be able to participate in, or even lead.
But as I’ve remarked elsewhere, sometimes an author (or podcaster) is too close to his own materiel to be able to see what others find interesting… So I’m asking you. If you’re reading this, you’re following one of my projects, either my tech blog, The Nifty Tech Blog, or my podcast, The Shrinking Man Project, or maybe you like some of the short stories I’ve written for Every Photo Tells…, or perhaps heard my appearances on Galley Table. At the very least, you’re someone who is aware of me and some of the things I’ve done.
So I’m asking you to pitch me ideas. Given my background with tech, social media, podcasting, story-telling, writing, and such, what kind of panels would you be interested in seeing me in participating? If you’re going to Balticon 45 (even if it is only in your imagination), what would you like to see me doing, or hear me talking about as part of a panel?
Feel free to comment at whatever length. I want to hear what you’ve got in mind.

Welcome back, folks. This week we have a long and rambly podcast named Small Steps. Go figure. We’re back to Philosophy this week, looking at how to deal with big projects by breaking them down into smaller pieces. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a lot of prep work done, so this has turned out to be a long, rough, and rambly podcast.
This week we’re featuring a promo for Gaia’s Voyages from Broken Sea Audio.
Be sure to check out The Lighter Mom Project, and pick up Scott Roche’s Music Box at Smashwords.
Enjoy the show. See you next week!

Hello, folks. I am sorry about the delay in getting this episode out. The weekend was busy, and the days following just didn’t let up. I hope I won’t have to do this too often. Then again, if you like having the Philosophy and the check in segments separate, let me know. If enough people like it, I’ll adjust the schedule.
Instead of a Promo this week, we’ve got a musical interlude. Mel Ginsberg-Stevens of NeidFyre has been good enough to give me permission to use some of her songs. She is ramping up her promotions for the release of her new album, Anatidaephobia, which will be released June 2nd. For those who are wondering, Anatidaephobia is the fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. If you like her music, feel free to check out her website. You can buy her CDs from her website, and some of her albums are available for download from iTunes. Today’s musical interlude is from her 2006 album Waddles from the Sea. The song is called JULIA DELANEY/COPPERPLATE.
Enjoy the show. See you next week!

We’re back to Philosophy this week. And I’m back to another busy weekend. In order to keep you from waiting too terribly long for the next episode, I’ve split this week’s installment in two. This half will include the philosophy section, and I’ll release this week’s check in later this week. after I’ve had a chance to edit that part together. In this episode, we’re taking a look at why one-size-fits all weight loss systems don’t yield consistent results.
No promo in this episode. Maybe in part b.
Enjoy the show. See you soon!

Hello, again. We’re back to Philosophy this week. We’re taking a look at what motivates someone to lose weight, and how to keep that motivation going.
The Promo is from Rich Sigfreid’s podcast Requiem of the Outcast. Don’t listen to the promo while drinking! This is hilarious stuff!
Enjoy the show. See you next week!
