Killer Clockwork Budgies of Doom!

This morning, I was so exhausted I called in sick and slept in until around noon. Maybe later. I knew I had a lot that I needed to get done, but I had a really difficult time getting myself started. Then this evening we had to finish getting the rental truck unloaded into our storage locker and they return the rental truck. It wasn’t until after dinner that I finally got to sit down to start writing, and by then it was after 11 PM. But I decided to get some words in anyway rather than taking another zero word day to catch up to. I managed to crank out another 841 words, bringing my total up to 29,255. I need to put in a full day’s writing tomorrow and Sunday. This is the first time I’ve fallen behind the target curve and I really want to put in the extra effort to catch up. I am not going to let NaNoWriMo beat me!

The last few days have been pretty busy. On the 15th, we spent the afternoon packing up furniture in Georgia. I tried writing, but I was so tired after the day’s exertions, I barely cleared 1000 words. On the 16th, we drove back to Maryland with our truck filled with my inheritance. I was able to write along the way and added 2018 words to my novel during the course of the 13 hour trip. Today, I went back to work. After working for a full day, my wife and I got started unpacking the truck. We got most of the furniture out, but still have some of the bigger pieces to unload. Tried to write tonight, but I am feeling drained again. I finally managed to clear 1023 words for today, but I’m pretty much done in. At least I’m ahead of the curve.

#NaNoWriMo, Day 7

by Doc Coleman on November 8, 2011 · 0 comments

in NaNoWriMo, WIP

Tough day of writing today. Did a full day of work, came home, exercised, showered, got very, very tired, then finally managed to begin writing. The going was slow, not because I didn’t know what happened next, but because I had no energy. I hope I am not catching my wife’s sore throat. I cannot really afford any more time off than necessary. But with my wife’s help making dinner and a bit of dogged determination, I persevered. Final word count for the day was 2025, bringing my total count for my novel up to 15,760! It still feels weird to say “my novel”.
