in Pimpin' Your Friends

Wellington Books never wanted to be a field agent. He was quite content as the Archivist for the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences. Happy to spend his days in the hidden sub-basement, tending his analytical engine, seeing that all the agent’s reports and their associated artifacts were properly cataloged and filed. Life was simple, but good. He even had time to tinker on his own personal projects.

And then she came.

Eliza Braun had been a filed agent. Had been. She had blown up one too many installations, defied orders one too many times, and had been assigned to the Archives to learn some humility.

That didn’t work.

Instead, she had drug poor Wellington out of the Archives, insisting that they investigate unsolved cases they had discovered waiting to be cataloged. And then they got caught.

And now, they were off to America…

DawnsEarlyLightEliza Braun is excited to be back in the field again, and to have a chance to show Welly how to be a proper field agent of the Ministry. This time Books and Braun are off to the colonies, to come to the aid of their sister organization the Office of the Supernatural and Metaphysical, or OSM (yes, pronounced “awesome”). That wouldn’t have been so bad, but these Americans! Now they are paired with librarian Felicity Lovelace and OSM agent Wild Bill Wheatley, two operatives that seem to have an amazing capacity for standing out in a crowd.

Now they are embroiled in an investigation of an increasing number of disappearances in the Outer Banks. Not just sailing vessels, but airships, too. As they head to the sands of Kitty Hawk, sinister forces gather…

Dawn’s Early Light

So begins the third installment of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences from Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris! This husband and wife team has done it again, bringing us another steampunk romp of danger, mystery, and intrigue. After being caught doing illicit field work in the Janus Affair, Doctor Sound has sent them to America to “keep them out of trouble”, but the simple case they’ve been assigned soon turns out to be anything but simple when their chief suspect in a rash of nautical and aerial disasters turns out to be Thomas Edison, himself! And their special Ministry consultant, Nikola Tesla is more than a tad strange. Some old familiar faces are back, too. Sophia del Morte is back at the bidding of the Maestro, and the House of Usher is once more lurking in the shadows. It looks like our heroes have landed themselves in more trouble than ever before.

This long-awaited sequel to Phoenix Rising and The Janus Affair does not disappoint, either. This is Tee and Pip at their best. Gadgets! Humor! Impossible escapes! Romance! And that’s all in the first chapter.

But don’t just take my word for it! Find out for yourself. Dawn’s Early Light will be released on March 25th, so there is just enough time to pre-order your copy on Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Or you can check out other reviews for the book at Goodreads.

The Giveaway!

To celebrate the release of the new book, Tee and Pip are giving away three prizes to readers in the US, and Canada. Sorry, overseas readers! They love you, but this is the book’s North American release. At the end of the blog tour, which runs until March 21st, three lucky winners will be chosen!

I’m not much of a twitter, or whatever. So I can’t twit about it. But I loved the first two books in the series, as my friends Doc and Kee had suggested them to me and they were right: A fun romp from the archives.
