All good things must come to an end…

in Writing

For forty-six days I found time each day to write something. At first, I wrote 250 words each day. Actually, most days I well surpassed 250 words, although there were a few days when I just barely ticked over 250. After a month, I leveled up and raised the target to 300 words a day. I still made regular progress. And then, on the forty-seventh day, after a long day at work, I came home, climbed into bed, and collapsed. I slept through until the next day. And my writing chain was broken.

Of course, when something like that happens, you need to get right back in there and get started again. So, the following day, I wrote another 400 words. And the day following, I came home from work and crashed out again. After a 46 day run, I’ve had a lot of trouble getting a new writing chain started.

A good chunk of that is because the dayjob has gone insane. I’ve had to step up to take over for my boss as he’s moved off to a new job, and there is a ton of work right now. I have to come up to speed on what everyone else in my group has been doing, and pass off what I’ve been working to someone new. Oh, and keep up on everything new that keeps coming up. This makes for long days and extra hours at work.

I am so looking forward to Balticon this weekend. Not that it won’t be a busy weekend, and that I won’t be doing a lot of work, but at least I’ll be doing something fun. And I’ll have the chance to hang out with some cool writers and podcasters from all over the country that I really don’t get to see very often.

I think that aside from this post, I’m going to let things go until after the weekend. I will go, recharge my batteries, and come back with the energy to start a new writing chain. This time, let’s see if I can break 100 days.

Well, sounds to me like you needed that rest. I know you prefer to keep the habit going, but sometimes you have to rest.

Balticon is going to be crazy, but yes, so much fun. And sometimes that’s more relaxing in all the chaos because it’s fun. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing you there!

Safe travels to you.

I don’t think there is any doubt that I needed the rest. About the only thing I need more than rest is more time to get everything done!

See you at Balticon!

Haha, I have to agree with you there. I could use more time as well. 🙂
