#NaNoWriMo 2012, Day 20

I was surprisingly productive yesterday! I got home from work in excellent time, and despite feeling tired all day, I was wide awake when I got home. Seeing that the nap I had expected to claim me was no where to be found, I decided to put my wakefulness to productive use and started writing!

By the time my wife came home from her errands, I had a good 800 words down and was speeding rapidly towards a thousand. This section was part of Casey’s being tested by the Primus, and the images were coming thick and fast, I just needed to type them! I quickly passed the daily word count and started making up some of the deficit. By the time I took a break for dinner, my story had hit 31,666 words, the target word count for the 19th! I was now less than a day’s writing behind. I stopped for dinner, then came back and did some additional writing before I had to stop for the day and see about packing for our Thanksgiving visit. When all the words were accounted, I had written 2,876 words for the day!

I’m still behind where I should be, but I’ve gone a good way towards closing the gap. And I’ve just had three days in a row when I’ve turned out an average of over 2500 words! For today, if I just break even, I think I’ll be in a good place to get through the Thanksgiving holiday.

And then there is the story…

Casey has been judged by the Primus, and found innocent of treading the Dark path. She now has a tribe of pixies in dept to serve her until they have repaid her for her ordeal. Now what? Casey still wants to go home, but how can she get there? Now she has to find someone who will answer her questions and stop giving her the run-around. Now it is time for Casey to find out what is going on!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you have a safe and happy holiday with your family and friends. See you soon!

Yeah Casey! 😀 She was found innocent.

And sounds like you were on a roll Wend. I’m looking forward to seeing if you got much with the holiday as well. I had a few days were it was impossible to get on, but found about an hour and half on Friday to get 1300-1400 words in. This last part, once I got going, came easier than I had thought. 🙂

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. 🙂

The holiday did not do good things to my productivity. I tried to ralley over the weekend, but I just couldn’t see the way forward clearly enough to get in a good word count. Monday rolled around and I was just exhausted and I still hadn’t broken 40k. At that point it became clear that I just wasn’t going to be able to pull off 50K by the deadline. I also need to figure out where the story is going, and what challenges I’m going to put in front of Casey that she is going to have to actively overcome. So… a lot of work yet. And the first draft may end up being 100k. A LOT of work to do.

Thanksgiving was good, however. My family was less dysfunctional than usual, and I gained weight I now have to lose.
