Some days, you burn the candle at both ends. And some days, you add a blow torch to burn the middle as well. My dayjob has been increasingly intense since the beginning of May this year, and that has stretched a lot of my available energy very to the very breaking point. My last writing chain ended because of this back in the end of May. Between work and writing, I went to my breaking point, and I broke. And my writing chain went as well.

So now, I’m reaching a new high point for my writing chain…

No one can tell you what the Magic Spreadsheet is. You have to experience it for yourself. But darned if I’m not going to try.

Since coming back from this year’s Balticon, I’ve had a number of people ask me “What is the Magic Spreadsheet?”. So I looked back over my past posts to point them to an answer, and found that I don’t really have a post that addresses that question well. So, it is time to give that a try.

For forty-six days I found time each day to write something. At first, I wrote 250 words each day. Actually, most days I well surpassed 250 words, although there were a few days when I just barely ticked over 250. After a month, I leveled up and raised the target to 300 words a day. I still made regular progress. And then, on the forty-seventh day, after a long day at work, I came home, climbed into bed, and collapsed. I slept through until the next day. And my writing chain was broken.
