Family

I know I’ve been silent here for a while. It has been almost a month since I’ve been able to update the blog, and I’m afraid I have to say that not all the news is good. We’ve had more than our share of family drama and it has played out somewhat harshly than we had hoped. The repercussions have sent a bit of a wave through our family and we’ve in the process of picking up the pieces.

RavenCon tomorrow!

Since this post is late, let’s start on a good note: RavenCon tomorrow!RavenCon

After the stresses of the past week, I need to focus on something positive. So let me cover the high points before going into my tale of woe. Perils is back from the editor. Lots of comments and some general notes on some meat of the story that didn’t seem to make it out of my head and onto the page. I need to get back with my editor and discuss some of the issues with her, but first life just had to get busy making other plans for me.

It rained.

I stood in a disused corner of a furnace room and put on a pleated shirt, a vest, and a bow tie. I felt ridiculous putting on fine clothes in the dirtiest room in the building, with only an aging folding chair as my only piece of furniture. I pulled the pants on over my boots and fastened them about my waist. I put on my coat and smoothed the lapels. Then I had nothing to do but wait.

Rough times at home

Things have been a little rough on the home front, and that has made it a little hard to concentrate. My mother in law has gone into the hospital, and my wife has gone to see her to lend what support she can, and make sure that my mother in law’s cat is properly taken care of. I am happy to say that as of the time that I started writing this, the prognosis is looking better, although it wasn’t always that way.
