Attack of the Dayjob!

This is a late #WriterWednesday post, and it is also going to be a short one. Hopefully I’ll be able to add in a longer post later in the week. As you can tell from the title of this little missive, work has dominated my life of late. I had a good, long Fourth of July weekend, in which I was able to go to a couple of parties at friend’s houses, see some fantastic fireworks, play some Cards Against Humanity, and watch the cook consistently give my burger to someone else. It was a good time, but it came to an end all too soon. And then, the dayjob attacked!

Work has done a number on me this week. I’ve been going from the moment I get there until I leave. Just when I think I’ve caught up or earned a breather, something new comes and sideswipes me. Yesterday I collapsed after work and almost broke my writing chain. Today I ended up working for 12 hours. Bleah!

Still, things are going well. Perils has come along nicely. I’m over 80% done with the second draft, and I’m hoping to get it done before the end of the weekend. Just keep watching the progress bar over on the right! I’ve started engaging some Alpha readers already, and I’ve lined up a group of Beta readers who are waiting in the wings. There is still room if you’d like to help me get my story into shape for publication. Just check out this post, and see the kinds of help that I’m looking for. If you think you can lend a hand, drop me an e-mail and let me know.

I had expected the Beta read to kick off sometime about mid July, but now it is beginning to look like that will have to be pushed out a bit I want the Betas to have the benefit of any updates recommended by the Alpha readers, but so far the Alphas who have been seeded chapters haven’t been responding quickly as a group. At the moment, I don’t have a good estimate on how long it may take to get enough feedback from the Alphas to start the Beta read. So stay tuned for more information.

Well, I’ve got a lot of other chores to do tonight, so let me turn this loose and get to it. Talk to you soon.
